KEXP 90.3 have published a selection of videos shot the days before their broadcast at Kex Hostel during last year’s Iceland Airwaves Music Festival. The newest addition are two videos from the session they did with the prolific Prinspóló – a quartet lead by the multitasking label boss, graphic designer and Skakkamanage-singer and Crepes-expert Svavar Pétur Eysteinsson.
KEXP 90.3 have published a new batch of videos shot during their stay at Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in October last year almost daily for the last week. Here we have two videos of the up and coming band Kiriyama Family – a quintet that comes straight from the South Coast of Iceland and features ex-members of Benny Crespo’s Gang and NilFisk.
Agent Fresco‘s performance at gogoyoko wireless in October 2011 was a real treat. This award winning rock band is known best for their highly emotional lyrics and even more emotional live performances. Here’s a video of them playing “Above the City Lights” acoustic along with a string quartet. This song is taken from their 2010′s debut full length A Long Time Listening.
Bay Area’s Ceremony are releasing their first Matador album, Zoo, on March 6th. The first video from the album is directed by Robert Semmer.
Sin Fang has been a reoccurring guest here as we count down the nominations for Best Icelandic Music Video of 2011, but today we tell you about his 3rd nomination. It’s clear as day that Sin Fang put a lot of emphasis on music videos, this one for Because of the Blood. This video, like Sin Fang’s Slowlights, was directed by Máni M. Sigfússon.

The 9th nomination for Best Icelandic Music Video of 2011 goes to Hjaltalín for the video to the song Feels Like Sugar, a video directed by Rúnar Ingi. The winner will be announced at the Northern Wave Film Festival on the first weekend of March.

Provincial is the first solo album by the lead singer/songwriter of indie folk-punk band The Weakerthans, John K. Samson. Comparisons to his contemporaries Death Cab For Cutie and The Mountain Goats are certain but John maintains his authority as one of the most imaginative and devoted lyricists of his generation.

Kavinsky (a.k.a. Vincent Belorgey) is releasing his debut full length this year and it’s follows upon the pleasantly late success of his song Nightcall that was featured on the Drive Original Soundtrack. Kavinsky’s debut will be released on France’s Record Makers who have just posted a new track called Roadgame which is all wrapped up in the classic Kavinsky sound.
Today’s Northern Wave Film Festival nominated Best Icelandic Music Video of 2011 is for the song American by the joyful bunch in FM Belfast. This is also FM Belfast’s second nomination, the video directed by FM Belfast’s own Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson.
