Sin Fang has been a reoccurring guest here as we count down the nominations for Best Icelandic Music Video of 2011, but today we tell you about his 3rd nomination. It’s clear as day that Sin Fang put a lot of emphasis on music videos, this one for Because of the Blood. This video, like Sin Fang’s Slowlights, was directed by Máni M. Sigfússon.

Northern Wave Film Festival – Best Music Videos of 2011 Countdown #20

We told you about it in an earlier blog post that gogoyoko has partnered with Northern Wave Film Festival in nominating the best Icelandic Music Videos of 2011. All in all, gogoyoko nominated 20 music videos and starting today we will post one video a day for the next 20 days.
 
The first nomination we like to tell you about is for the song Slow Lights by Sin Fang. The video was directed by Máni M. Sigfússon.

2011 has been a great year in terms of new music. While gogoyoko has been growing this past year, so have the number of songs we offer in the store. In the spirit of our recently published 30 Best Albums of 2011, we’ve compiled, discussed, debated and constructed a list of the 30 Best Songs of 2011 and made it available in a playlist for your listening pleasure. Sóley Stefánsdóttir, better know simply as Sóley, is a young musician who’s been making a racket on gogoyoko and everywhere else with her first full-length album, We Sink (out now on Morr Music). The album has made it on the Nordic Music Prize long-list for 2011, received the prestigious Kraumur Music Award, a nomination for best album at the Icelandic Music Awards.. we could go on.
 
But who’s behind the face of the mysterious artworks surrounding her publicity? gogoyoko’s Gylfi Blöndal set to find out and struck gold, as Sóley talks about an offer to join a respected Circus, how things with her solo project sort of just happened, fending off unwelcome passengers on the tour bus and so much more.

The year 2011 has seen some significantly joyful growth for gogoyoko. We see our store‘s catalogue getting bigger and weightier each week with more artists and labels making their homes on the site. We’ve been participating in many great events throughout the year including the successful gogoyoko Wireless Series, gogoyoko Off Venue Extravaganza during Iceland Airwaves, Reykjavík Music Mess and more. We revived the provisionally defunct blog and gave it a lighter and fresher appearance. We are very excited and happy to have added another field to introduce outstandingly great music to you all.
 

The year 2011 has heard some really great music. Many new and exciting artists are surfacing with new releases, ideas and approaches, alongside releases by dearly established artists. The content team went through piles of releases, carefully voting between almost hundred nomination-worthy candidates for The Best Album 2011. The result is this juicy Top 30 list of highly recommended albums.
