London’s NZCA/LINES was originally conceived as a guitar based project but slowly transformed into a suave, synth-pop sensation that combines pop melodies with R&B beats and lush arrangements with multi layered harmonies. The band is lead by one Michael Lovett and their first and self-titled album recall elements of Metronomy and a modernized version of The Beach Boys. The band is set up to release the album on Lo Recordings‘ sub-label LoAF on February 27th.

Amongst associated artist of the city’s multicultural underground scene are the fundamental Portishead, The Pop Group, Massive Attack, Flying Saucer Attack, Fuck Buttons and Tricky.

Bedroom Community is an Icelandic record label and collective established in 2006 by longtime friends and collaborators Valgeir Sigurðsson, Nico Muhly and Ben Frost. Later on the crafts of the versatile artists Sam Amidon, Daníel Bjarnason and Puzzle Muteson were added to the intimate roster.

The man with the dim and profoundly howling baritone voice, Mark Lanegan, has returned with his seventh studio album entitled Blues Funeral.

The North-Icelandic Kimi Records is the label of the week and it is the umbrella for many of the unique and vibrant bands in Reykjavík. Kimi Records is somewhat a foster child of boredom and burning enthusiasm for new and exciting music from Iceland and Belgium.

Glitterhouse Records is the label of the week and it is one of Germany’s longest running independent labels.
Glitterhouse Records maintains a strong reputation by releasing diverse artists like Tamikrest, Sixteen Horsepower, Wovenhand, The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project (featuring Nick Cave, Debbie Harry, Mark Lanegan, Isobel Campell, Mick Harvey etc.) , Dirtmusic, The Walkabouts and many more.

Probably one of UK’s most out there math-rock outfits is Brighton’s I’m Being Good. The band’s history goes back to the beginning of the 1990s and initially started out as a bedroom project of guitarist/singer Andrew Clare. The band has five albums, a compilation, 7 inches and loads of free form digital releases up their sleeves and mostly released on Andrew’s label Infinite Chug but they’ve also released for labels like Kill Rock Stars, Jonson Family, Ché and their latest album, Mountain Language, was released by Nottingham’s indie label Gringo Records.

Constellation is one of Canada’s most influential and respected independent record label. The label is based in Montreal and for over a decade it has become known for its contributions to experimental genres of music. It has released albums of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Do Make Say Think, Colin Stetson, Sandro Perri, Vic Chesnutt, Tindersticks and Silver Mt Zion just to name a few.
