gogoyoko on: gogoyoko, facebook, twitter, flickr, rss

Our highly lethal and dedicated Development Team has been rolling out 2 new builds of the site in the last couple of weeks.  These new builds’ primary aim is to make your gogoyoko experience a whole lot better.  Yes, there’s always room for improvement and we will continue to roll out new features into the far future.

The new “Share on Facebook” feature.

Here’s what’s new:

  1. Share on Facebook. You can now share an album on Facebook and the album cover, name of the artist and name of the album shows up exactly where it should.
  2. Charity is Alive: The new charity page is up on gogoyoko.com and it looks just super, I must say.  A big ol’ banner up top themed like our forthcoming charity video, lovely text about gogoyoko/Charity, a news feed from the charities’ profiles and a good ol’ fashioned email form for people to get in touch with Maria, our Head of Charity.  Life is too good.
  3. Credit purchases can now be viewed under the account tab on the profile.  They show up along with your purchases.
  4. The Wire: Viewing another person’s profile now only shows updates from them and message written directly on their wall (no longer all messages from everyone they follow.) When you view your own profile, you get the full kit and kaboodle.  Now, when you view someone else’s profile, you can see everything they post and whatever other people have posted to their wire feed.  You can only see the updates from all the people you are following on your own profile.
  5. Twitter settings, autocomplete on locations,  added into the user profiles.  No more horrible long drop down menus for us when selecting countries and cities.
  6. Viral Management Tool is in:  You can add other people to manage your band (even if they’re not on gogoyoko) and they get emails with invitations to join gogoyoko.  This works both from the accounts in music manager and also when creating a new artist.
  7. Various bits of bling in album creation:  Dragging and dropping songs for the order in the tracks,  making the visual experience incrementally more beautiful.
  8. A new, colorful header with more stuff: The header has some freaky styley stuff goin’ on with some colors, links to buying credit and slight changes to the links and drop down menus that will make you melt with satisfaction.
  9. Purchasing music just got easier: Hey man, not much credit in your account?  Want to buy that new Hjaltalin album, but you don’t have enough gravy?  (Uh huh…)  Well, no fear.  We’ve built credit purchase into the flow of your purchasing experience.  Add to your credit and continue shopping.  Now login to secure and entering your credit info is in one step.
  10. The store is “open” for browsing internationally:  Just open it and see what happens.  Something wonderful, no doubt.
  11. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful… beautiful cart:  ”There, there, bag lady… let me take your old broken cart and replace it with this shiny new one that looks like the one in all the pretty magazines.  Oh… it’s okay.  You can still keep all those things in there, but now you can remove them too.”
  12. Stalking people for the sight-impaired:  The follow button’s been small of late.  Now the button’s made more great.  You see it if you’re weak of sight.  The difference is like day and night.

So go ahead, check out some of these new features and let us know what you think?

About

gogoyoko is a fair play social music marketplace, where artists and music fans can transact and interact. We’re an online music shop, but also so much more.

Artists
We do not only offer artists a revolutionary cut from their music sales and revenue from streaming. We provide them with the platform to create their online destination and manage everything themselves; the sale, promotion and distribution of their music, without the use of middlemen.

Fans
Music fans are provided with the tool to discover, stream or buy and download music straight from the source. They can also create a profile page and socialize with their favorite artists, friends and other music fans, find gigs, events and tour dates via our global music map and read and write all about music.

Background
After years of experience from selling their music in the US, UK and mainland Europe - seeing most of the money of the transaction being swallowed by middlemen - a group of artists was led to create what they saw as a dream platform to enter the global music market. A place where they would not only get exposure and be in contact with their fans, but also receive a fair share of their music sales and the streaming of their music.

We provide artists and other music right holders with the platform to create their online destination and manage themselves the sale, promotion and distribution of their music.

By artists for artists
gogoyoko is made by artists for artists and is all about fair play. That’s why we strive to keep the best deal out there for artists. Apart from legal obligations (royalty and transaction fees) we don’t take any cut from music sales. Additionally, we share 40% of our income from advertisements with artists based on the streaming of their music.

gogoyoko consists of four primary sections:

  • The Social Network, where artists, record labels, music professionals and music fans create profiles, interact and contribute to the ever-changing music scene
  • The Store, which can be customized by artists and record labels, and embedded to other sites on the Internet
  • The Music Magazine, where music fans can impart and keep up to date with new releases, exclusive interviews, reviews, special offers etc.
  • The Worldwide Music Map, a (groundbreaking) tool to find gigs, events and tour dates any where in the world

gogoyoko was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, in November 2007. Today the team is based in Germany, Norway, India and Iceland.

Charity

We believe in social responsibility, doing good and running our business with a contribution towards charity and environmental issues. We like to believe that our users and partners think the same. Therefore, charity is an important factor in the philosophy behind gogoyoko.

10% of our income from advertisements goes to partnering international charity and environmental organizations. This means that everybody visiting, buying and selling through gogoyoko contributes.

In addition we provide all gogoyoko users with the opportunity to donate to our charity partners through various means. Artists can donate 10% of their music sales and users and browsers can donate directly to the organizations on a special charity page.

The charity page is the place where everyone on gogoyoko can monitor how much has been donated to charity through gogoyoko, learn about the organizations and follow their latest news and projects.
