Joint Press Release from gogoyoko and the New Venture Business Fund in Iceland
Reykjavik, Wednesday, January 28th 2009
The IT start-up gogoyoko has raised 100 million ISK from The New Venture Business Fund in Iceland and private investor Vilhjalmur Thorsteinsson.
The company, founded by musicians in November 2007, introduces a social music marketplace where artists and other music right holders can market and sell their music directly to consumers worldwide, without the need for middlemen. Included in the service are several unique technologies, such as a music player that can be embedded on any site with the music store rooted in the interface.
Charity plays a big role on gogoyoko.com. Several charity and environmental organizations will be featured on the site. Artists are encouraged to donate 10% of their music sales to the organizations and gogoyoko will donate 10% of its advertisement revenue.
gogoyoko.com is currently running in a closed Beta-version with access limited to invitations only. Public launch is scheduled in April this year.
gogoyoko’s partners are Tekmindz in India, klein interactive in Germany and Ignitas in Norway.
